Time to determine the sex. Many people have asked us if we are going to try to find out if our baby is a boy or a girl. We decided that we would rather know what we are having. It makes getting clothes and decorating the nursery much easier. It is harder for friends and family to get baby gifts if they don't know what gender to buy for.
This ultrasound is usually done at 20 weeks, but we were a week early. Unfortunately the baby wouldn't cooperate, so we were not able to determine the sex. The umbilical cord was between the legs, making it impossible to get a peek. According to the measurements taken, the baby is 11 ounces, and is exactly on track, size wise. The heart rate was 150, which is generally considered to be in the range of a girl, but no one at the doctor's office wanted to go out on a limb and say one way or the other. We are considering trying again in 3 weeks, but because sex determination is not a medical procedure, we would have to pay for that ultrasound. Here are the pictures and video from the ultrasound. Check out the Our Baby page for the pictures and video.
