Ever since we bought our house, I have wanted to build a work bench in the garage. When Luckie got rid of many of the items in their warehouse, it seemed like the right time complete the project.
I started last weekend by building the shelves. although I thought
I had a matching set of supports, it turns out that two of them were different
and needed to be drilled to match the others. This was easily accomplished
by taking the supports over to pistol's to drill on the drill press. Once
that was done, the shelves went together easily.
After much discussion about the placement of the shelves and bench with Lara, I went to Home Depot to buy the wood. I had a rather straight forward design in mind that included the following materials.
I set up a work area in the side yard to keep from getting too much saw dust in the garage. I borrowed a set of saw horses and circular saw from Pistol along with an air compressor and nail gun from Scott Schablow. Once I had the tools and a the materials, the building went smoothly. It took about 4 hours to complete.
I am really pleased with the way the entire garage has turned out. Now I only need a project to use the new work bench.
